Meagan here for Northwest Live. We made
it to Aki Con being held in SeaTac right now. We have a ton of anime, manga, cosplayers, there's an arcade, Artist's Alley. Let's check it out Here with Mariah and Mackenzie, two of the
artists we found in Artist's Alley and first off before we get to the art I
want to talk about your costumes because you look amazing Yeah, no, thank you. So what are you
dressed as. I'm dressed as saphire from Steven Universe. And I am Rose Quarts also
from Steven universe. So you do sketches, yeah? And is this your first time
displaying at a con? No, I've actually just displayed at Aki Con once before in 2012. An anime that I
really like is Little Witch Academia. Their style is really cute so and their animation is so fluid which I go to school for digital art and animation so that's one of the things I like.
And what do you like about Aki Con that you can't find at other conventions. I like that it's small just
because I can walk around me all the cool artists and it's not overwhelming. This
is my second time displaying. This is my first time for like a bigger convention.
I really like finding the big groups of people cuz you can come here by yourself
and then like leave with a whole bunch of new friends. Yeah, it is a very intimate con which makes that sort of thing a little easier.
It's nice. And what do you do? I do a variety of things. I have keychains, stickers plushies, a lot of handmade stuff definitely
and I also have my own commissions for sticker and paper. And you were saying you made the plushies all by hand completely sewn by hand? Yeah, all the plushies are sewn by hand with a little bit of hot glue, fabric paint and determination. A lot of determination, I imagine, cuz there's a lot of stuff here. So are there any shows that you draw inspiration from or things that
really inspire you to make the art that you do. Well, recently it's been Steven
Universe, but I also love this smaller known show called Ruby Gloom.
I just
really love how they can take these simplistic styles and make it so much
fun and exaggerated it's just even with like Ruby Gloom which is a darker show it
still brings so much fun and excitement and I have so much fun drawing in
such these bouncy round styles. What is your favorite part about creating something
from nothing about making your art? I guess it's just like getting to
design it yourself and then doing it and then you can say like I made this all by
myself no one helped me with it I did it and everyone like wow that's so cool and
I'm like yeah I know I'm cool. And that's it for us here thank you so much for watching
guys. From BC2PDX, I am Northwest Live. See you next time..
